Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ's)

FAQs - CA Foundation Course

An Enrolled Agent is a federally-authorized tax practitioner licensed by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to represent taxpayers before the IRS on any tax matter. Unlike CPAs or attorneys, EAs have unlimited practice rights, meaning you can represent clients in audits, collections, and appeals.

Earning your EA demonstrates specialized expertise in U.S. federal tax and enhances your credibility and career mobility—whether you’re serving individual filers, businesses, or estates.

You can qualify to sit for the three-part EA exam in two ways:

  • Pass the SEE: Complete all three sections of the SEE (Individuals; Businesses; Representation, Practices & Procedures) in any order. There are no educational prerequisites—just a solid grasp of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • IRS Experience Waiver: Have at least five years of qualifying experience as an IRS employee working regularly with the Code and its regulations (e.g., revenue officer, tax examiner).

The EA exam consists of three independent sections, each with 100 questions and a 3.5-hour time limit:

  1. Individuals
  2. Businesses
  3. Representation, Practices & Procedures

Testing Window: May 1–February 28 (closed March–April for annual updates)

Delivery: Computer-based at Prometric centers, six days a week

Retakes: You may attempt each section up to four times per testing window, in any order.

  • Expert faculty: Instructors are practicing tax professionals and former IRS agents who bring real-world insights into each session.
  • Small cohorts: Maximum of 15 students per batch ensures personalized mentorship and ample doubt-clearing time.
  • Proven success: Over 90% first-attempt pass rate, backed by structured mock exams and performance analytics.

  • Comprehensive materials: Gleim content covering every domain of the SEE, updated annually with the latest tax law changes.
  • Flexible learning: Live interactive online classes plus 24×7 access to recorded lectures on our LMS.
  • Rigorous practice: Section-wise quizzes, full-length simulated exams, and detailed score reports to pinpoint areas for improvement.
  • End-to-end guidance: Application assistance (PTIN, IRS registration), exam-day tips, and post-exam placement support with top tax and accounting firms.

Most candidates complete the EA course within 6–9 months, depending on their study pace and availability. AKPIS provides a structured schedule to help you balance learning with professional commitments.

Each section typically takes 2–3 months of preparation, with built-in revision and mock exam periods.

As a Certified Enrolled Agent, you can work in diverse roles such as Tax Consultant, IRS Representative, Tax Analyst, or Compliance Manager.

EAs are in high demand at Big 4 accounting firms, U.S.-based tax consultancies, and multinational corporations managing U.S. taxation.

Many professionals also choose to build independent practices offering U.S. tax services to clients globally.

Yes! AKPIS provides complete support from start to finish — including PTIN registration, IRS enrolment guidance, and application filing.

After you earn your EA credential, our dedicated career services team helps you connect with top U.S. tax and accounting firms for placements and internships.
